The foreplay begins at 8, with a four-piece acoustic set including some never before heard covers and originals. At 9, the intensity heats up as the remaining two members join us and we do the entirety of 2013's "How Do You Do? (it's Kiddoo and the Dude)," including many half-acoustic re-imagings! You'll climax at 10 when we throw down with the new album, K&tD's Funky Freakshow.
Stop by and say "Whaddup" anytime throughout the night, it's gonna be almost 70 degrees tomorrow!
I don't know how y'all spent your New Year's Eve - curled around a campfire uptown or hurled around a toilet downtown. Kiddoo and the Dude and our big party Krew rang in the new year by completely flipping One-2-One Bar upside down with the debut of our Funky Freakshow! Our circus-themed second album's not out yet but the circus couldn't wait. Equipped with lasers, strobes, balloons, and a rock'n'rocll trampoline, our new breed of over-the-top entertainment is not to be missed!
We've got a bunch o sweet local shows on the radar. Right now, we're gettin geared up for Jan 22 at the Scoot Inn, opening for - who?! - our former guitar player J Hungerford wailing on a cello over electronic beats? That can't be right, but there's only one way to find out. Then we're armed with everything we got at the Russian House downtown, for a THREE HOUR set! We'll have something for everybody, starting with a chill acoustic set and then rocking the WHOLE first and second records on full blast!, throwin in a bunch o random surprise covers! Expect the unexpected: a truly unique, ambitious K&tD performance! After that, be sure to stay tuned for spring shows at the Whip In, the Marjorie Dawes Co-Op, Earphoria Austin, and Latitude 30 and much more!
We're hugely excited to announce our first mini-tour! To promote our second record, we're putting together a a five-gig excursion at the end of April with our friend and groove machine, Leo Lydon, opening for us every night! We'll do four dates in Colorado, and on the way back, one in Texas Tech's hometown, Lubbock, TX. We'll do small tours like that through the summer, until we do our big East Coast voyage come September. This country has no idea what's in store...
Hey, KnD Fans,
Did you miss us? Well, we've missed you too. But it's not like we been sittin on our lazy rocker asses. We been puttin together a freakin crazy second record for y'all! While you were recovering from tryptophan overdoses, Dude and the Krew and I spent the post-Thanksgiving weekend laying down all the guitars and drums for Kiddoo and the Dude's Funky Freakshow, an hour-long circus-y face-melt (with a couple o ballads for all the sensitive lovers). All that's left is some singin and some saxin. So, start preparing yourselves for THE album of 2015 NOW! Here's a sneak peak at the Krew gettin busy...
Did you know that K&tD are recording the most epic of party-funk-rock records over the course of five days immediately after gorging on turkey this Thanksgiving? Did you also know that they will be performing that album in it's entirety on Saturday, Nov 22nd on the Metropolis stage? The event is called Barterfest, set up by our roommate Leo Lydon, and the idea is that everyone brings a bunch of random, cool shit from home that they'd be willing trade for someone else's. Kiddoo will definitely have a table set up with loads of VHS, CD's, amp speakers, etc. He's a sucker for new junk, so bring whatever you can! It starts at 5, and K&tD are scheduled to go on round 8! 2200 S Pleasant Valley Rd, Austin, TX 78741.
On Wednesday night at Dozen Bar, we rocked so hard that the next band cut our set short by twenty minutes. The visually intimidated guitarist from the next band sent the booking guy to tell us that the song we just played was actually our last song. Thanks to those fanz who came out. Next time you'll get the whole kit n kiddudle- f'real!
The time has come for Kiddoo and the Dude to unleash a second monster into the world. This next album will be much more ambitious and crazy than the first. The band has since doubled in sized and the sound has grown tenfold. The theme of the record will be carnivalesque, the working title being 'Kiddoo and the Dude's Funky Freakshow.' The Krew is welcoming back Matt Meli, our recording engineer and co-producer on the first record and Mary Wendel, the cover artist from the first, as well. The studio that we'll be gettin funked up at is definitely an upgrade. Tucked away in West Austin, Orb Studios was christened this past SXSW by the likes of Biebs and Weezy. Check out some photos of the A-Room.
Recording begins November 28. We'll keep you posted...
